    Trip down the stairs

Recently was enlisted by the wife and grandaughter to do a charity climp/walk at Amicalola Falls in the beautiful N. Ga. mountains. Needless to say after the hike up and down my knee's and bad ankle were blown out the next day, roughly 604 steps to the 1st bridge crossing the falls then another 300 to the base and back up. It was worth it seeing the admiration on the G-Daughters face that Pop-Pop hade made the climb, enjoy the pics

Way to go TommyT, she is a little doll. A grand child can dull the joy of the best day in the shop.

Yup, That was a haul, but thanks to Absorbine Jr. and some pain meds I'm back up and running, now we have decided to do some more treks(wth am I thinkin) to Tallulah Falls and Cloudland Canyon, (Both here in Ga.) Over the course of the next few weeks with the little tyke and will send some more pics in(unless I take a spill), those steps are very steeply graded , but worth the views and the love of the little one as we rarely do much outdoors other than fishing together since the accident a few yrs back. Here's a few mo pics

Great pics, Tommy. Looks like a fine family.
I've done those falls many years ago and also Cloudland Canyon, but never the other one. Might think about a day trip to Cades Cove in East Tennessee near Townsend. I love the Abrams Falls hike there but it is about 5 miles round trip with some pretty tough hiking in places. There are a number of other easier hikes in the Cove as well as many in the Smokies. Have fun. It gets easier the more you do.
PS Try the hike up Mount LeConte - about 16 or 17 miles round trip and it ain't easy. :-)

Your title had me thinking you were joining me in misery - I fell down the stairs a week ago and tore my quadricep tendon. Had surgery, won't be able to walk or drive for at least six weeks :-(

Sorry to hear about your fall woodturner, Hope ya get to feelin better, Phrog, I think those are prolly gonna be slow to get to. While I was considered quite the outdoorsman type before the injury my left ankle only pivots up and down about 5-10 degrees and left to right maybe 2-3 inches now. So long 15-20 mile hikes are outta the question for the remainder of my life I'm afraid. I had previously hiked the Appalachian Trail into the Carolina's from this very spot. The AT starts about 5 miles from these very falls. For those who may have forgotten here's a pic of the previously discussed injury. Goes without saying any hikes are painful

              OUCH!

I don't have the pins protruding through the skin, just an external brace with velcro straps. The problem, though, is that it is trying to tighten down straps on a cone, since the leg tapers. Doesn't work well, and the brace constantly slides down, twists, slips, and generall annoys me. It mostly just reminds me to be careful and keep my leg "locked".

Ouch! on the ankle / foot pics. Thanks for posting the other pics. I have relatives in N.GA and have heard great things about Amicalola and Tallulah Falls. I will probably be visiting one or both later this year - now I have a better idea of what to look forward to.

If you go to Amicalola see if you can find the VW Beetle on the way down. Its been there for nearly 30+ yrs and my wife and grandaughter did not believe me till I showed it too them. Hint: Its right beside the stairs on the lower tier of steps
