Well, I'm finally starting to halfway feel normal. Monday morning I had the inguinal hernia that I've been walking around with for 15 years fixed. Doctor said that since I waited so long, the mesh used and techniques are better, and that I stand less than 1% chance of reoccurance.

I haven't been in too much pain, except that a certain part of my anatomy looks like Holyfield and Tyson have been taking turns using it as a punching bag. It actually got so swollen that it was the size of my fist. I've been icing and taking it easy, and with the pain killers I've been relatively comfortable. SWMBO has done a wonderful job in taking care of me. She hasn't complained much at all, even when I've had to get her up at 2:30 in the morning to help me to the boys room.

Doctor says that I should be able to resume any/all activity by Thurs. of next week. Too bad SWMBO heard the doctor say that.

Was doing better...guess my post "jinxed" it.

Tried sleeping in my best last night for the first time. I tend to sleep on my right side. Anyway, I woke up at 6:30 this morning in more pain than I've had the entire time I've been home recooping. Apparently the muscles in that area didn't like being in that position. Had to move back to the recliner and take a pain pill.

Plan on going to work on Monday, but will probably be taking it as easy as I can.

Based on my experience, you'll be feeling better pretty quick. I had a similar operation (laparoscopic repair w/mesh) a few years ago and it worked out fine. You'll be feeling better, but you have to still take things slow for a while, giving things a chance to heal. Try not to lift anything other than a fork, till Dr give you the green light

There's a joke in there but, being this is a family forum, it's going to have to go unsaid.....

It took me a little while longer than that I think back in 97.
I pulled it lifting lead lined doors for an Xray room in a Hospital we were remodeling. Adding an addition really. Lots of new construction.
Those doors weighed over 400 pounds each. I was the door and hardware installer.
Got the surgery done right there. Had severe pain the first 3 days. After that, it was manageable. At three weeks, I was able to return to duty, but only light duty. No more lifting stuff like that. He gave me a 20 pound limit the first few weeks. At 5 weeks total, he said I was better than new, so full duty in construction. It will get better fast, but take it easy for awhile.

The Doc did say that mine wasn't a bad one. I could live with it like that if I wanted to, but it would never get better on it's own and possibly get much worse. I took that as being optional, but the pain I initially had lead me to think it was needed. Glad I got it over with. You will be as well, I'm sure.
