          Katie Coleman who is on board is the wife of glass paperweight artist Josh Simpson. If you look at his series 'planets' , the influence is more than obvious.

          While most of his planets are relatively small (anywhere from 2-5" diameter), he made one for the Corning Glass Museum that is 100 lbs! I think it took him 4-5 attempts before it worked.
