I haven't had much time online lately because I am transforming a small bedroom into a full bath. Most of the time has been spent with my wife, shopping for the tub, toilet, and sink.
Too bad they just don't make one model of each piece. That would make it easy.
Then our computer wound up with a virus that I couldn't get rid of, and it wouldn't boot up. So I bought a new hard drive, and re-installed Windows XP. Had a hard time getting back online, and that took a few phone calls and about 2 hours to resolve the problem.
Now here's the Bah Humbug. One of my sons is not working, except for an occasional handyman type job. He does not collect unemployment, and he lives frugally, with no bank account.
A few days ago, we had winds with gusts up to 60 mph. This was combined with a snow storm, making driving hazardous, to say the least. The following day the winds were not as severe, but still pretty bad. But that didn't stop him from going to the local mall, where they have "The Angel Tree". This is a tree where you can donate gifts for those less fortunate. He was going to donate a gift. But I'm not sure if he ever made it there.
Either on his way to the mall, or on the way back, he hit a patch of ice, skidded across the other lane, and hit a parked semi. Then another car hit his. His car is totaled, and since it was only worth about $2,000.00, he didn't have full coverage. So here he is with little money and no transportation.
So Dad (me) spent the better part of 2 days picking him up, getting him to the tow yard to get his personal belonings, 2 visits to the police station, and helping him find a 17 year old truck that seems to run good. The important thing is that it seems he had only minor injuries, with a whip lash (painful neck, but getting better).
Now you know where I've been the last few days.
