That brought back memories... Anyway, right thing to do, still sucks. Sorry for your loss. She'll live on in your heart.

I know you are hurting now but take comfort in knowing you did the right thing to end her suffering. Sometimes I wonder why the same option isn't there for people.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to all that responded offering their condolences. Although Shadow is not with us in a physical sense, she will remain with us in memories. I'm thinking it's like a soul that remains. The quality of that being indicative of her love and interaction with us while she was alive. It's no different to us than when a human leaves us. We remember what they were like in life and what kind of animal or person they were. That's how they will be remembered.

In our talking about that interaction, we bring them back so to speak. That could be their soul. That we can do anytime, and love doing it.

That's one of the hardest things we've ever had to do. Sorry for the loss, but you know it was the best thing for her.

Like you, we've asked ourselves many times why we keep getting dogs. Their life span is just too short, and it hurts when that time comes.

Sorry to hear of your loss C-Man. We went through that a couple years ago and we still feel the love that friend had for us and know that sometimes that is the only thing you can do for them.

                C-man,

I am very sorry for your loss. It almost seems cruel that we can become so helplessy attached to an animal that will only be with us for a short part of our time on earth. All we can do is try to give them a fraction of the love and comfort they have given unconditionally to us from day one which I have no doubt you did. The memories you have will be with you forever and I do think that one day, you will be reunited. Between now and then, you are keeping Shadow with you through memories and stories, which the best we can do.
