    Cab,

Even though he's Army (explicative deleted), it's about effing time someone got one and can hold it in LIVING hands.

It's great that we live in a country where heroes are still recognized.

There was some discussion in the last year or two in the media where the military was concerned that their criteria for MOH recipients was too restrictive, as the deaths of so many former recipients has left an ever shrinking pool of living MOH winners.

What is also sad is this took place back in September and it is just now being reported in the forum. Our media does a rather poor job at telling the important stories. It should have been front page news for over a week! Thanks Cman for sharing the link.

Agreed our media is crappy... I believe the US people are proud of their sons and daughters in the services, regardless of their beliefs regarding whatever theater they are in. A shame the media is afraid to follow those stories....

He hasn't gotten the medal yet- so I'm not surprised that it's not really reported.

The medal ceremony is coming up in a couple weeks.

Reducing the criteria for the highest honor our nation can bestow on it's heros to increase the pool of living recipients would only lessen the meaning of the Medal of Honor.

From reading the story and citation, SSgt Giunta met all the criteria as it stands and deserves to be called a true hero.

As a side note, it is a pleasure to see an article about the Medal of Honor that doesn't add the word 'congressional' in front of it.

I agree with Pappy's sentiments. I just couldn't put the idea into proper words earlier; well said.
