    Fall Foliage in California??

I spent most of the last week with my best friend from high school. He has a cabin 15 miles uphill from Bishop, California. This is on the Eastern side of the Sierras.

Aspen are the predominate broad-leaf tree in the area.

This is the road leading to the cabin.

This view of the waterfall in from the same road.

Here you can see how the Aspens cling to life in the high desert.

This is what it feels like to walk into the Aspen forest. It is sensory overload.

This is a view of Mount Tom from the front porch.

That sure is pretty. But there should be a law against posting pictures like that for people like me to see. We have very little color this year, for some reason.

My neighbor was just telling about having been in Mammoth last week. These pics really bring his stories to life. Thanks, Steve.

Been up thre in the fall. Wife used inspect sec 8 housing in bishop when she was work for the State and I would go with her and fish up in hills above Bishop. The trees looked like they were on fire the colors were so vivid. 10,000 feet up everything is more vivid. Whol different look on the Eastern side. Did you get up to oldest living things on earth forgot what the calll those pines. They are on the other side of the Valley up above 11,000 ft. Bristlecone Pine is what they are.

            Tom,

I've seen them before. I'll take their word for the age, but they look like sick Bonsai on steroids.

This is billed as the World's oldest tree.

That's not me, or my photo.

We had a bunch of pretty trees until today. Sixty MPH gusts and rain have done a good job of stripping the leaves.
