Thanks Tommy. I don't think this type of info could ever be outdated. Many of the joinery used 100 years ago are still used today. Heck I've read dovetail joints were found in ancient Egyptian artifacts. Even if the tools we use are different, the joints remain the same. I know for a beginner like me learning this technique is not only informative but quite interesting. In fact I'm slowly learning to use more and more hand tools because I've found it's the easiest (at least for me) way to clean up a joint to make a tight fit.I reject your reality and substitute my own.Comment

Very Nice indeed, thanks.
I have a few very old shop and engineering books, but nothing that dates back to the 1800's.
Interesting under the machine shop heading was the "Power Transmission through Leather Belting". Amazing what they did before electricity and extension cords.
Thanks sincerely, this is definitely a book marked favorite site.

Ya,ll be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom of that link and go to evenfalls workshop. He,s a regular over at Woodnet and according to folks there makes killer shooting boards, but he,s primarily into handtooling vs power tools, But a craftsman for sure, http://www.evenfallstudios.com/woodworks/Last edited by tommyt654; 09-18-2010, 10:36 AM.Comment
