    MagicJack / Nettalk

    Hi All,

Does anyone have experience with these, or other Internet based phones? I've just switched to cable internet, and would like to cut my ATT phone completely.

    Thanks,

    Johan

We've had Magic Jack for going on 2 years.

For 19 dollars and some change a year it's not bad. Does have to have a computer running, but since I've a cell phone too, everybody knows to call my cell after 10-11 in the evenings. But anywhere in the U.S. and Canada is free calling. Some like it, some don't. We like the COST per year!

We used ours when we vacationed in Mexico last March.

The phone thought we were in Minneapolis. Saved a ton in long distance charges back to the U.S..

We brought a cheap phone, the Magic Jack and the computer. It worked like a charm.
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

Thanks for the links and comments. I think I'll try the NetTalk - no requirement for computer to be on, and cheaper than ooma.

Do you have a cell phone plan? I bought this extendable handset system at Costco that has a Bluetooth enabled base. I pair my cell and my wife's to it. Incoming cell calls ring on all the handsets.
