Audio issues on computer?

I was listening to some music and the tunes didn't sound right. Tried a number of other songs and kept noticing that things weren't right. I played with Wave balance slider and Master volume slider, both slightly to the left and it seemed to make the music more balanced and listenable. Before it seemed that in some songs, the lead singer was in a tunnel! Anybody know why this may occur? I even downloaded a new driver for the music card (built in to the board).

Check your connections. I've got a logitech system upstairs that will sometimes get a poor connection at the subwoofer (the main speakers branch off of it). I changed out drivers, then disabled the onboard and put in a couple audio cards before I tracked it down.

I did check the wiring prior to dowloading an updated driver. Everything is as it was the day before. It is really odd...

+1 on the connections. Can't tell you how many times I've had to unplug/replug twist/wiggle those 1/8" connectors to fix a sound issue.

I upgraded the speakers on my computer but they are still the worst I listen to. Is it possible that you are noticing this now because you hear the same songs reproduced better by another system? Both my cars and certainly my home system have better balanced frequency distribution and speakers with less distortion than my computer speakers. I guess I should have spent more on them.

I had some time this morning and checked it out a little further.. I was listening through the headset port on my external Labtec speakers. I think that this port or the wires to the back of the computer are to blame, because when I use the headset port on my pc, all is well! Thanks a bunch guys.
