Fire fighting does seem like a good application, both for boats and buildings near the water. I wonder if it could be powered from a tank truck or hydrant for use in high rise buildings?

No more info but the more I thought about the Firefighting application the less feasible it became as it would definetly have to be remote control as the heat from a fire and getting a unit like that close enough would be hazardous to operate as well, but hey it was just a thoughtComment

With this device, the "waste" is the water - so they could use it to hover over the fire on a tall building, for example, and potentially get more water to where it is needed.
