    Smoke Tree

This is a detail from our Smoke Tree (Cotinus Coggygria - Royal Purple) from our front garden (click on the picture to enlarge it).

It's the best it has ever looked since we planted it!

Beautiful coloring, and a good photo. Looks like a treatise on "depth of field". Are those uncut diamonds on the leaves?

LOML is now on the Net looking it up. Do you have a picture of the whole plant. She will be Emailing her internet pen pal in the UK about it and looking to see if she cant buy one here in the states.

Fairly common. I bought one while at a previous house, maybe 10 yrs ago. It was sold under the name Purple Smoke bush. They can get quite large if you don't prune them.

                Great photo and great tree.

The public gardens around here usually feature a smoke tree because of their beauty.
