    dw400 angle grinder

    I realize this is like a 'needle in a haystack' question, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.
    I have 2 dw400 5 amp 4 1/2" angle grinders (don't ask.

    This has been out of production for a number of years. I had a use for them once or twice, then pretty much put them away.
    Now, I wanted to use them with a sanding disc for a certain project, so I pulled them out and took a look at the instructions for how to set up the sanding disc. The instructions, on page 9, list a part that neither of my 2 grinders seem to have. (If nothing else, this gives a good reason for a 'what's in the box' to be in every manual.)
    Long story short, I called Dewalt, they tell me, after 3 days of research, that the part doesn't exist, it was an error in the manual.
    I find this hard to believe for a couple of reasons;
    1) I have 2 different printings of the manual, 2 years apart. There are some differences in the manuals, but this remains the same. If it was missing a part from the instructions, wouldn't somebody have called and alerted them and this change would have been made? Wishful thinking?
    2) The 'missing part' is referenced in both text and the illustration. I could see one or the other, but both?
    Anyway, If anyone does have one of these, the part is called a 'disc nut hub'. It is the first part that goes on the spindle and it gets 'attached' to the disc nut, which I have. Can anyone shed any light on this 'phantom' part? Thanks!

    Check HF, the arbor size is pretty much standared IIRC, its 5/8X11 thread size. I was able to adapt HF parts to my Ryobi grinder. I think it came as a kit with the hard backer plate, & arbor adapter. Then just get the ridged sanding discs.

        I have an angle grinder nut like the one Tom posted, with the built in arbor for a sanding disc. It came with a grinder I got from Northern Tool, model 143378.

        Reply if that is the right part and I'll get dimensions from the part I have, maybe NT can sell you just that part.

          I appreciate the feedback guys. Unfortunately not the part. The part is not threaded, looks kind of like the classic space ship (flying saucer?) shape from bad old sci fi movies? Except the top of it is open. The tapered open end is the part that goes onto the spindle first.
          It would seem to be about 2" in diameter from the illustration.
