    An intrusive online ad...

I ran across this ad for Lufthansa today at Die Welt. (It was the perfect opportunity to try out Wink, a free screen capture/tutorial application. )

It really got my attention — the whole web page fell off the screen. I almost wish I’d caught it while the content on the site still matched the image. I hope you all get a kick out of it, too.

I put the video on my site here: http://www.thefrankes.com/wp/?p=2090

(It's basically introducing a new plane.)

    That was a cool ad.

I hate ads in general on many websites, especially the ones that block viewing the content.

Have to agree. I had to watch Alex's movie to see it as I have most of that blocked. I expect that there is neat stuff that I am missing but I don't miss the intrusions.

Someone has to come up with a non intrusive way to show advertisements on both the net and TV or we soon will be paying full rate to see everything.

I never would have seen it. I have most ads blocked too. I also thought 'plane' meant the woodworking kind.

Cool! You have a nice site, Alex. I'm guessing you probably know there is an error BT3Central for Wordworkers.

Ha! Thanks for pointing that out -- I hadn't noticed it.

Pretty funny! My wife works for Lufthansa (well, sort of, actually Austrian Airlines, which Lufthansa took over last year) and she hasn't mentioned this to me, so I'm guessing she hasn't seen it yet.

She works in the executive offices where German is spoken more than English. Most of the muckety mucks are transplanted from overseas and she always tells me that for people with a 'stern' reputation, they have a great sense of humor, even about themselves.

That is pretty cool. Must be some pretty slick code.
