How to recovery in Windows Safe Mode?

My wife's Acer laptop is infected-even with Macafee running. The infected program, MalwareDoctor, won't let me run the Acer recovery agent (system wipe and reinstall). Windows Safe mode will let me run the agent but won't let me click OK to start the recovery.

All attempts to stop the malware in regular windows has failed.

I do have a Windows CD and could boot and install from it, but I'd like to use the agent since it is configured for her laptop's exact setup. I think if I use the CD, the agent will be gone forever.

What's the best way to do this?

    Thanks,
    Paul

I am pretty sure you can install MalwareBytes in safe-mode.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

I would download the free version on a working PC, copy it to a flash drive, and march that over to your wife's machine. Boot your wife's machine in safe mode, try installing the software, and see if it will clean it up.

You could try safe mode with networking first, that way the software can update the defs right after the install.

That MalwareDoctor is a nasty one. My wife had this on her computer. Here is a link on how I removed it.

Open the link, scroll down and follow the instructions to remove.

Thanks for the help guys but I yield to AntiMalware Dr.

Malwarebytes found the contagion but could not remove it. I'm installing a fresh copy of XP now.
