    Solutions To Prevent Bank Robberies

The "caught on camera" videos of bank robberies usually show someone wearing a hooded sweatshirt, ballcap and sunglasses. Simple enough to ban those items inside banks...just leave them at the door.

With the safety of patrons at stake, have a walk through detector, like at airports.

Best yet, would be to have all customers strip at the door. Now, that would encourage online banking.

Then at least you could see their concealed weapons.

While this approach would limit petty theft, it does not address the issue of what to do to stop the criminals seated at the banking industry desks ?

My bank has a notice on the door. No ball caps, hoodies, or sun glasses, inside please.
They will ask you politely to remove them and if you don't no service. They are a small credit uninon and are very safety conscious especially with your accounts. Twice some one has tried to steal my ID and they have caught it and I get a call immediately and everything is changed no questions asked.

The bank I use has tried to encourage on-line banking and using the ATM by increasing in branch service charges.

I wonder if that policy actually prevents any hold-ups.

If I'm already planning to rob the bank, being asked politely to remove my ski mask isn't going to work.

Maybe they're hoping to catch guys that accidentally wear ski masks or caps/sunglasses into the bank and then think, "hey, wait, I could rob this place and nobody would know me." You know, the guys where it wouldn't occur to them to rob the bank until they realize they're wearing the ski mask and, well, may as well make an unauthorized withdrawal.
