Lower speed for metal and plastics, as the slower speed reduces heat which can cause burn on the plastic and less tear on sheet aluminum goods. -
What Tommy said but... I never cut metal on my BS's as the metal filing's get under the blade and im-bed on a tire.. stick to bearings.. etc. creating a potential problem when working wood afterwards. If I were going to use a BS to cut metal.. I would have one dedicated to doing so. If you do use it for such.. it's a PITA but clean it very thoughly each time.
Just my view of the world of course... your's may vary!
