    BandSaw Speed

Most bandsaws come with a two speed pulley and the speed
set a the high speed. How many of ya,all ever change the speed and if you do, why?

Lower speed for metal and plastics, as the slower speed reduces heat which can cause burn on the plastic and less tear on sheet aluminum goods.

What Tommy said but... I never cut metal on my BS's as the metal filing's get under the blade and im-bed on a tire.. stick to bearings.. etc. creating a potential problem when working wood afterwards. If I were going to use a BS to cut metal.. I would have one dedicated to doing so. If you do use it for such.. it's a PITA but clean it very thoughly each time.

Just my view of the world of course... your's may vary!
