A Day at the minors

Took all but 1 of the girls to a Rome Braves minor league game today, out of pocket about $40 including a few brewskies for me and Momma,Great seat just behind the Braves dugout, They won 3-2 over the Savannah SandKnats(NY METS),Perfect weather for a spring game ,70,s with a slight breeze, enjoy the pic,s Tommyt

Thanks Rich, We,re all a little bleached out from winter still, but that will change, Got tickets today for the whole series against the Hagerstown Oriole,s in May, 2, 10:30 a.m. games and 2 ,7.m. games, Gotta love it when they serve beer before noon down here in the south, Takin some Baltimore friends with me,so I don,t have to drive, woo hoo, Now just gotta figure out who to root for but the tickets are behind the Orioles dugouts and I,ll have my Baltimore hat on, So to say the least I,ll probably root for them. But what a nicely manicured field and well built stadium, I,ll post better pics after the O,s game. The place was well packed and they had an additional seating area for picnics at $2 a head out in right field(where most of the foul ball,s went today). I hope that any of you that have an opportunity to go see a minor league team play do so as its baseball at it,s best form next to the pro,s IMO, but then again I love the game, even as a child.

We go to about half of the Sacramento River Cats Home games AAA (A's) Cheap date and have great time. During the early season before it gets hot they have a lot of day games during the week. Lot of people in work dress there. When the Grand kids are here we sit out in Right Field on a gass embankment and have picnic. Much better than driving down to the Bay Area for the Giants an A's

We are so fortunate here to have spring training, minors, major leagues and quality college ball. It's 6 months solid of beer, brats and baseball... Life is good.

Tommy, our big thing up here are the NHL farm teams(AHL). We have the Hab's farm team close to us in Hamilton-The Hamilton Bulldogs are on their way to the Calder Cup this year. And the big crowds show when the Toronto Marlies come to town!

Yea, I remember those days in Tampa when Cinncinatti had their spring training out off Dale Mabry Hwy. in Tampa. I tried out as a walk-on too many times as a pitcher down there, just never could get the ball across the plate with any control during tryouts, I musta hit 10-15 guys over 3 yrs of tryouts before I gave it up and wound up playin 3rd base for a semi-pro softball tean called the Tarpons for 2 yrs before my arm gave out, but it was fun. Played the King and his court twice. Got beat 23-0 1st time and 23-1 second time on a fluke missed hit ball by our catcher wayout in center field. Their outfielder stubbed his toe trying to get to it and fell, otherwise he,d have caught it and it woulda been 23-0 again, Glory Days,awww they pass you by.

It's a shame baseball couldn't be combined with hockey, because then every team would need a pitcher who could hit 10-15 guys in one game...

I got to catch Eddie Sr. here once... His guys played a benefit game against our local radio station team, and Eddie pitched for his team for 3 innings, and then for us for 3 innings. It was... interesting...
