    What we need is something that will filter out all those worthless paid links that provide no information .. That would be a real trick

      Those are good tips. I use a few of those already, like the spelling. The math function is a timesaver.

          I actually don't mind them if they're not overdone or in the way. On a number of occasions I've clicked through and later purchased. They often (but certainly not always) are pretty relevant to the content on the page.

          +1 on dkerfoot's suggestion, though.

            Those were some good tips. I use the math and spelling functions. Limiting a search to a certain site is very useful.

                    They aren't really worthless - they fund google.

                    If everyone blocked them, we would have to pay to use google. Sort of like commercials on commercial TV.

                    So by allowing the ads we are doing our part to fund what is essentially a public resource. If we don't accept the ads, one could argue we are denying payment of our "fair share".
