    Win7/XP Question...

Anybody with Win7 running older 32-bit software in XP mode? Any problems? Can high RAM be used that way, or am I limited to the 3.2gb limits of XP? (I'm about to upgrade to a 64-bit box with 8gb of RAM, but will have to upgrade software gradually because of cost...)

Any problems with the newer SATA hard drives with 6.0gb/s?

Yes, No, Don't Know. Most likely you can use all the memory Win7 has to give the application since Win7 is 64 bit and will use all that memory. No.

    Hope this helps.

I attempted to run XP mode with the Windows 7 release candidate last summer and was unsuccessful getting my legacy program to work properly - end up sticking with XP. Twas a shame because my limited experience with Windows 7 was that Microsoft was finally addressing the desires of experienced users rather than only rank novices.

I've heard it alleged that the actual release version has improved XP-compatible performance, but haven't seen or tried it myself.

Please report back with your XP-compatible results!

Windows 7 Ultimate and 4GB RAM = no compatability problems at all. Several legacy programs (e.g., Homesite+) running in XP Compat. mode without a hitch. YMMV!

Thanks for the input, guys. I guess I'm not doing anything that can't be undone, so all I'm risking is the time... I'll let y'all know how it goes.
