    Turning off Windows Backup

I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I also have Click Free Backup, which I use twice a week. Windows keeps sending messages to insert media in DVD/CD drive so it can back up files. I have looked and looked and tried different things but can't turn Windows Back Up off. How do I do it? Getting tired of seeing the little flag with the red x in the task bar.
    Thanks

You could also set it to back up to a HDD, if you have a spare you are already using for backups. If you don't have one, I strongly recommend getting one.

Click Free is a 750g External USB HD that automaticly backs up all the other computer in the house. I am scheduled for twice a week. Window 7 want to do it also and I want Window Back Up to go away. I will try the link that was posted.

Just did it. I could have sworn I did that before and it came back, we shall see.

Sunday morning. The notification in the taskbar is back. Little flag with the red X "Solve PC issues" It is insisting I insert blank media into my CD/DVD drive so it can continue the back. Click Free is scheduled for tonight at 7pm. I love Windows 7 execpt for this.

            I don't have Win7 but a couple basic ideas:
            1) Older Windows have a generic "Task Scheduler" that can run pretty much anything. See if backup is also in there. OEMs that pre-installed Win7 might have folks that don't know of Win7's unique capabilities and instead did things "the old way" that they were used to.

            2) Any system "cleanup" or "maintenance" type of utilities running - either schedule on their own or with a Task Scheduler type of program? Those utilities often look for commonly screwed-up settings: things like firewall disabled, backup not scheduled, etc. and "helpfully" reset settings to what they think is optimal. Often these utilities do things like disk defragmentation, registry repair, etc. so those are keywords to look for.

In Control Panel->Adminstrative Tools->Task Scheduler scroll down until you see Windows Backup. Click it. In the center pane you should see a task called "Automatic Backup". You can try deleting it from Task Scheduler.
