In the part of the UK that I live, we're over 700 feet above sea level. OK, so we still get rain, but flooding is extremely unlikely. If we're flooded out, the rest of the country's in deep doo-doos!
A few years back I was briefly affected by swollen rivers, in that I couldn't get off my hill-top for a while, but it's small beer compared to some other parts of the UK which are having a really bad time. Parts of Scotland still have the snow that fell in early December - unheard of in the last 30-odd years.
