    An Amazing 'Tool'

I ran across this when we were cleaning the house after my step father moved to assisted living. Patented in 1945, it is simple in design and highly efficient at its purpose.

Wire stripper or cigar snipper was going to be my guess.

What is bugging me is that I am certain I should know what this is ... that I've seen one before ... possibly my dad had one? He worked for years as an electrician, and used to smoke cigars. I can't bring it to mind, but the look and shape of the jaws is definitely familiar.

That looks like an enhanced interrogation device, AKA, "nutcracker"...

I think I saw it used on "24", or maybe from a James Bond movie...

hey!!! I got one of those in the basement too. I always thought it was some sort of nutcracker, but never have really been sure..

On the back it says "TEXAN nut sheller" .. I suspect it's for pecans...

Oh, maybe THAT'S why it seems familiar!

Although you'd think I wouldn't remember that, ah, procedure, given my tender age at the time ...

Yeah, yeah, I know. Waaaaay too much information ...

That's what came to my mind -- then I quickly tried to think of something else.... partly because it looks like it's supposed to perforate or crimp instead of cut. yikes.
