    Lost final season

The parallel story lines on Lost was a little surprising.

It seems to me the writers are digging themselves deeper.

At what point will they start peeling the onion for us?

I thought they started to do so. We now know who the smoke monster is. I still don't know how I like the new Flash-What could have been.

Either way, I thought tonight's episode was great and can't wait to see what's to come. I hope the writers live up to the hype.

Spoiler Alert if you DVR'd the show. Stop Reading.

    1. What happened to Sharon? Wasn't she on the plane with Boone?
    2. Anyone think Sayid is now Jacob?
    3. What did the fake Locke mean by his statement about Richard's chains. Was Richard a slave on the marooned boat found in the middle of the island?

I have no idea where the show is going. I am along for the ride. Some
random thoughts on last night's show.

It was a little funny, though, how the smoke monster knocked the guy out of
the protective dust ring by tossing a boulder at him.

I am expecting the Japanese leader of the Others to do some of kind of finger
point, and then some kind of exclamation like "Godzilla" when the smoke
monster attacks the temple. I think the writers might do it.

I hadn't thought that Jacob might be Sayid. However, in Locke's case, the
smoke monster guy just made himself a new body. He didn't inhabit Locke's
      dead body.

I don't think the plane ride is what could have been if the plane didn't crash.
There are already too many inconsistencies. Like, where was Sharon. Jack's
dad was on the plane the first time. Why not this time? Something else is
      going on.

After the explosion, they appear to get knocked back to the present. That's
why all the Dharma people are gone. Why do they still have the van from
the 70s? Was Sayid in it? Maybe anything they were touching traveled with
them? Like clothes and maybe the van?

My coworker will be super bummed Juliet is dead...or is she?

I think fans need to brace themselves to the idea that not all questions will be answered, nor will all answers be completely logical. I'd even bet that if we make a list of all the seeming inconsistencies we notice as a group, many of these will just be glossed over or ignored. I am not saying this with a crystal ball in hand : I just think they have too many 'big ticket' items to explain to even get to the smaller issues.

I did not think of the other story as a 'could have been'; I thought they are going for something like a parallel universe, or even split identities (literally!) of many of the characters; after all Jack still carries scars into that life/body, and seems to remember some things from before/after! Not sure how they are merge the two; remember that one story is happening that day in 2004 while the others (same people) are in 2007 !

Pity is, once they have made it overtly supernatural, nothing can be ruled out, and anything can be allowed. I mean, once we are told that Jacob was practically a supernatural being who (most probably) made all things happen till now (from the very crippling of Locke to handing over a guitar case to Hurley that had a note that predicted Sayid would be mortally wounded so many years/eons/seasons/time-travel later...); and once we know that the monster can assume a human form (any form it wishes), there's very little to explain.

Maybe it will turn out to be a rivalry between Jacob and the Smoke Monster - alien vs predator?

Agreed. That is what I expect. Hoping for more.

I did sort of chucle last night after the smoke monster scene. They kinda hit us over the head with that explanation.

Almost like they didn't think the audience would get it, so "we better make an announcement."

Perhaps in the future they can use subtitles as they explain things. Or make a little "ding" noise.

              cgallery,

So I take it you haven't watched on-line, DVDs or the special re-run versions. They actually have a scroll bar on the bottom of the screen that explains every reference.

Excellent point. No, I haven't done that. They even mentioned it during a break on the show last night.

The reason I don't typically watch the online content is those commercials you can't bypass.

Have you watched the online stuff? Is it worth putting up w/ the commercials?

I tried watching an episode out of the cold somewhere in the middle of the 3rd season.
All I could understand is that it would be an excellent show.

The Blockbuster Video guy warned me that to enjoy it I'd have to start with the first episode, first season.
I got the first disc (4 episodes), watched it and was back for the second disc 3.5 hours later.
I watched the entire first season (22? episodes) that weekend, the entire second season the following week and DLed the rest from TPB to get up to speed.

I think what initially set the hook was the guy standing in front of the jet turbine.

Wow, I really like this show.

Anyone else notice that in the pilot episode, it was Jack that was nervous and Rose calmed him down, and then last night it was vice versa?

I also wondered where Shannon was.

I loved the scene where the island was underwater. Someoen on the radio surmised the view we got was maybe from the POV of Christian Sheperd's casket falling into the water. I don't buy that.

I remember Jacob was dressed like those pirates we met last night when he first met Ben as a child.

I can't wait until next week with he "pop up" explanations.

The creators were on Kimmel last night and gave a couple minor hints. I have that show DVR'ed but probably won't watch it until tomorrow.

"Lost" lost me a while back

I always thought I could live with a fair bit of ambiguity but this series pushed me over the edge a while back. By the time something that might be an answer showed up I'd forgotten the question. Oh well.

Maybe all of the die hard fans could ban together an write a "Lost for Dummies" or form a fan group like Star Trek. Losties anyone?

The producers talked about Jack being nervous instead of Rose. All they said was that it was intentional.

I think people are right about the plane landing safely is an alternate universe and not merely one in which the plane didn't crash. So everything after 1977 (when the bomb blew up) happened differently. In this reality Boone failed to convince Shannon to come with him on the plane.

I'm still not sure how the island got to the bottom of the water. I'm no physicist but I doubt a bomb could sink an island.

And of course you want to believe physics is relevant here...
