    Frozen Niagara

While we havn't had much in the way of snow yet this year, we have been seeing our share of frigid temperatures. The vineyards have been picking their icewine grapes and the ice bridge has formed at Niagara Falls. LOML and I braved the cold this morning to head down to the Falls to take a look. We last saw the ice bridge 20 years ago and I struggled on the frozen sidewalks with a broken toe. I took a bunch of pictures to share with everyone.

It was a cold walk and I was glad to get into my warm car but I would do it again.

Amazing pictures. I've been there a couple times, but always in the summer. It is incredible that that much water can freeze.

Thanks David. Usually the water doesn't freeze over unless ice escapes the ice boom at the mouth of the Niagara River at Lake Erie.

Great pics, thanks for the post.

Whenever we visited (in summer), I've always wondered how it'd look during deep freeze, but never had the gumption to visit to check it out. Now we know!

I grew up in a small town about 30 miles from there called Middleport. We used to go up every winter. I remember how the mist would coat the trees and on a bright sunny day it looked like they were encased in glass.

We come up several times in the summer to ride the trails. It is interesting to see these amazing pics! We don't come up in the winter any more due to spending about 8 hours traveling I90 at 10 MPH!
