Got a good chuckle about the Sema editions.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Looks scary. I wouldn't want to see that thing coming at me.

Only in America can a manufacturer of childrens clothing branch out like this...
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Actually they have been in business since 1917. Pulled this info off of the corporate page of Oshkosh Inc:

The company's major brands - Oshkosh, JLG, Pierce, McNeilus, IMT, Medtec, Jerr-Dan, CON-E-CO and London - are considered leaders in their industries. JLG leads with a diverse product portfolio including leading brands such as JLG® aerial work platforms; JLG, SkyTrak® and Lull® and telehandlers. Under its Pierce® brand, Oshkosh is North America's leading fire truck manufacturer. Oshkosh is among the world's leading defense vehicle manufacturers. McNeilus® brand concrete mixers are used by more concrete producers than any other. McNeilus is the world leader in refuse collection bodies. Jerr-Dan is a top name in towing and recovery equipment. CON-E-CO is a leading U.S. concrete batch plant manufacturer, and London is the leading Canadian concrete mixer manufacturer.

Founded in 1917, Oshkosh Corporation has manufacturing operations in 13 U.S. states and in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, France, Romania, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The company currently employs approximately 12,000 people worldwide.

To be more IED proof than the current Hummers wouldn't take alot. I understand that troops have even resort to hanging old flack jackets on the doors to improve armor, loading the floor with sandbags, and bolting scrap steel on the sides for armor.

                Sad isnt' it?

It looks fairly well sealed up. If it is going to see duty in the middle east, I hope they put some form of climate control in it or they will be rolling ovens.

Especially sad since the Hummer was a proven death trap long before.

My understanding, is that was why it was gone with.

I am still trying to figure out WTF happened. When I remember these coming out in the 80's, it was my understanding that these were to replace Jeeps, as all purpose vehicles. Then these seemed to get used all of a sudden, for APC's instead. Who thunk a glorified Jeep, was armor?

It not only has air conditioning, but also has power ports for IPods and CD players.

I remember you being right about the HummVee being a Jeep replacement. I don't think the Humvee really failed, I think the game (warfare) changed and the Humvee was asked to do far more than it was designed for. I don't believe IED's were ever encounted in the frequency as they have been in recent wars
