    930 Tons Of Paper

Sounds like a lot to me. Chrysler says they will discontinue the 200 page "owners manual" that they stuff in the glove boxes and replace it with a 60-80 page handbook and a DVD.

It'll be easier to lose that way. Which is good, since most people couldn't find theirs if they had to.

BTW, can you view it while you're driving? That'd be really handy, in case you had a question about the transmission while you're driving down the highway...

I do keep my manual in the glovebox but it's very rarely used so making it smaller would be fine by me.

I have an aftermarket HU with GPS/DVD and various media formats supported.

I don't know if it can display PDFs through the native interface or not (never tried through the built in media player, but I'd assume not), but there's WinCE/WinMo living under the covers if I take the time to go into admin mode and I could access it at that point. I have the parking brake interlock disabled so I could read about the transmission while driving down the road if I were so inclined ...

If you're not surfing an IPod, talking on the phone, texting, or puttin' on makeup. The make up didn't apply to you Jeff.

          I can see it now,

People STILL throwing away the owners manuals for the cars

Then they pull out the cracked DVD, from too much stuff in the glove box (Don't ask me about the crack mirror/glove box repair story), and try to get it to play while driving.
Then get into an accident, from trying to call the manufacturer, since the cracked DVD won't play. (and the stupid lawsuits that follow)
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

What about the cracked mirror/glove box repair story? Sounds interesting.

I'm more interested in the crack mirror story. That is a lot more interesting than a cracked mirror.

                Probably just a typo.

Of course it is, but it is still funny.

If it's not a typo it could be a very sad story.

I hope the paper handbook part includes the "in case of emergency" portion of the manuals. Nothing like having an auto-tranny that won't shift out of Park while you're in the shopping mall parking lot... and you want to look up "how do I use the shift lock override again?" only to find out it's on the stupid DVD.

True, but I am betting it is a typo. And I meant the typo was funny, not the story.
