Cheapest way to get F1/Speed TV?

OK, so now that Michael Schumacher is coming back I'd really like to watch the F1 races. But we dropped DirecTV and are (other than F1 and only half the NASCAR season) quite happy with HDTV over the air and Netflix for the rest.

F1 will be on Speed TV this year again. Seems that DirecTV, Dish and Comcast do not include Speed TV in their basic packages. So is there a way to get F1 and or Speed TV that doesn't cost $50+/month once promotions run out?

I searched high and low for F1 streams, their don't seem to be any legal ones.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

There probably isn't one because of licensing. We have Direct TV, and I think it's the least expensive. But, you'll also get the DTM's and BTCC's both fine road racing. Try checking here.

It will be interesting to see how Michael does with Mercedes.

Dish has a deal going right now - 34.99 first year and I think 49.99 2nd year. I believe if you get the basic (no DVR/HD) receivers you can get the Silver package that includes Speed for less than your 50 bucks a month. Unless you go to a bar and watch the races, or your cable co has something cheaper, that is going to be the cheapest. You might be able to watch the races online, after they happen.

I like DTM, but is it just me or do those british announcers make it sound about as interesting as someone describing paint drying?

Mercedes always seemed to me like an unfinished chapter for Michael. And the cooperation with Russ Brawn was always quite successful. This should be very interesting! I also like that a lot that they got rid of the refueling (made the race much less transparent, was unnecessarily dangerous and those refueling rigs were a constant source of problems), and that there is a single tire supplier. Can't wait!

The F1 races are usually on Speed late at night or early in the morning. You might want to consider paying extra for a DVR.

I am unaware of any legal streams. There may be some bootlegs out there; but as tight-fisted as Bernie is, any that pop up are likely squashed quickly.

If you decide to pony up for a package that includes SPEED, be sure to verify which version(s) is included. Standard-def SPEED is included in our basic Comcast package, but the HD version is not available at all. I'm considering switching back to DirecTV largely for this reason. They offer a LOT more HD channels than Comcast; the initial promotional rate is much cheaper than our current Comcast package and when that expires, the costs are just about the same.

It is you. I find them knowledgeable and entertaining after most football and baseball hacks. I believe half the team was British, half American. I expect that Peter Windsor will be otherwise occupied this year.
