The jokes here practically write themselves, don't they? It's almost like shooting fish in a barrel...

In any event, I just wonder if they had any trouble getting the coffin lid closed when they buried him?

Holy schmoly! I think I'd have to change my name if my last name were that. At least they didn't name him Richard. I've talked to Richard Head more than once, he is one of my customers. Also in an old job talked to Harold Dinghy on occasion.

My mother grew up with twin sisters Ima and Ura Hogg (I made her pull out an old yearbook and prove it to me) and I personally met a guy she worked with in a brokerage office whose name was E. Bascomb Dingus (nobody had the sack to ask him what the "E." stood for).

Is this for real? I had some doubts when I saw the name of the Bishop...

The funeral director was heard to have said when they brought the body in, "Looks like we've got another stiff one here..."

His friends all said of him that he was a stand-up guy.

When faced with adversity, he always rose to the occasion.

His favorite movies were "Stand and Deliver", "Up", "Hard Day's Night" and "Die Hard".

Many women in the community, especially, said that he will be sorely missed...

this is making me laugh too much; I should log off - I'm at work, and supposed to be working hard, er, hardly working, ummm - busy...

We got his commercial on Letterman when they were looking for people with funny names.

I think you all are missing the point of the poor Fr. Dick.

There was such a crowd of mourning ladies I heard they had to erect a huge tent for the graveside service.

They took care to dig the hole 6 feet, 9 and 1/2" deep. Normally there are 6 pallbearers carrying the casket to the graveside, but in his case there was an extra fellow to keep the lid closed.

Father Gettlefinger (pronounced Get-le-finger, as he's from Montreal) gave the eulogy:
"Let us now honor Father Firmus Dick, who constantly raised the bar on what was expected of him. He worked hard to satisfy the members of this community, especially the needy ladies among us, and he has now reached the climax of a long and vigorous life."

At that point 3 women in the audience fainted.
                          Jeff

Actually, the casket was held closed by all the wreaths, stacked like a ring toss. You can find his resting spot, at the Smiling cemetery, between the peach tree's, by the bush. It has a bluestone marker, shaped like a football.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
