    Haiti

    I'm sure by now that your all well aware of the massive devastation that has happened in the island nation of Haiti. It was while viewing this slide show series on MSNBC http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34845446.../?beginSlide=1 that I was moved to tears at the plight of those who are suffering through one of the worst disasters the western hemisphere has ever seen. I urge my fellow BT3ers to donate, if you are able, to their favorite charity to aid in this disaster. Attached is a photo that shows a small part of that devastation. It looks like a post apocalyptic world you would see in a movie.

      As of today they're revising the casulty estimate up to 200,000... Insane.

              My parents' church sent some members as part of a larger delegation from their church's association. They say the devastation is overwhelming.

                  I took care of Haitian refugees in 1994 while in the military. They are wonderful people who are above all SURVIVORS. While they are not people who crave order and bureaucracy, they are full of life and energy, and it is a shame they have had to endure so much suffering for over 200 years.

                  It is said with much evidence that Columbus brought smallpox and measles to Haiti, wiping out almost all the native population, while they gave him and his crew syphilis in return. Fascinating and tragic history.

                  You can easily donate money to the Red Cross by texting the word "Haiti" to the number 90999. I did it the other day in about a minute flat. Couldn't be easier.

                      I read somewhere that the RC has raised $30mil through this resource alone. Righteous.
