18 MM is .70866 some where between 11/16 = .6875 and 23/32 = .71875. the mistake is is in trying to convert metric to a inches.

How much plywood is consumed in the US everyday? Why can't plywood mills actually produce 3/4" plywood for use in the US? I could understand if we were a tiny part of the global market, but aren't we still the world's largest economy? Trying to match plywood for repair in an older home is a nightmare, I'd think the home renovation market alone would be big enough.

I think I'm going back to see if the rest of the plywood they have in stock is 16.66 MM.

It happens everywhere & not just at the B&M. Last spring I was working on an addition, one of my guys & I were carrying in some 3/4" plywood sheets when I noticed the piece we were carying was only 1/2". We got into an argument whit my employee on one end & me on the other. "This is 1/2""...."no it's 3/4"" After a couple of minutes of arguing to no end, we swapped ends & realized there were a couple of plies that stopped short mid sheet, making both of us right. 1/2" on one end & 3/4" on the other. I have no idea why I kept that sheet, but I did & laugh about it every time I walk by it.

OK, I called the place in Hartville and asked if I got the wrong plywood as it was 3/16" and not 1/4". I explained that I asked if it was a full 1/4". Well, as I suspected, he infered that it was due to the yough guy not knowing. Anyway, he appologized and explained that the only full thickness ply they carry is the cabinet grade 3/4". He offered to go check it so I waited. He said he checked the birch and oak and both are a full 3/4". He explained that much of what they have comes from up north and for the thinner sizes they send whatever they have at the time. So, it varies even for them.
So, maybe I can use the 3/16" and glue it to the 5/8" from the box stores. How close will that be to 3/4"? Wait, do they have 5/8"?
Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?
