I'll show you mine, you show me yours

Finally got back my camera from #1 daughter, here's what I carry, let's see your's.

This started out as a "stock" Cold 1911 Go;d Cup, the pistol was given to the late Austin Behlert for a complete "magic" overhaul.

I've fired thousands of rounds thru it and never a jam. Austin made it capable of feeding empty brass and all sorts of "crappy" ammo.

He even reworked a Colt .22 cal conversion kit (no photo), and other nifty goodies.

It will still "double tap" from a holster draw at 21 Feet constantly into the "X" ring of a standard B-27 silo target.

    Very nice, Bruce.

Two 1911s have passed through my hands (still have my late father's Remington Rand A1), including a customized Series 70 that I desperately wish I had kept.

I have been hankering for a 1911 to shoot lately, but am in severe sticker shock at the prices, so my Xmas gift to myself was an STI Spartan.

          Mark,

I'm curious, which mods don't you like, I realize everyone has different tastes.

BTW, while we're on the gun subject, here's some photos that Cabinetman sent me, I believe he got them from a friend. Hiope that guy doesn't reload for him..

I don't carry this ol' girl much anymore, in favor of a lighter Glock auto, but she's always been my favorite, and saved my life at least twice... (S&W Model 66-6 .357M, with a top-drawer action rework and UC-made zebrawood grips; ammo is custom JHP with elephant loads)

I don't "carry" anything, unless I'm out in the country, but it's absurd to suggest that S&W blew because it's a revolver. Whatever chamber pressure required to do that much damage was obviously far in excess both SAAMI and the manufacturers specs. A round from your Gold Cup generating the same breech pressure would probably earn you the nickname "Lefty", assuming you're right-handed.

BTW, an old shooting buddy who used to chide my wheelguns sent me those same pics, apparently forgetting I was with him the day he blew up a magazine and a pair of walnut grip panels on his Springfield Armory .45 when he dropped the hammer on a double-charged reload. By contrast, I've sent upwards of 100K rounds down the barrels of Colt, S&W, and Ruger revolvers without a hiccup.

Here is my Ruger Single Six (convertible) and my S&W M&P in .40 S&W. I just got the M&P last week and put the first 100 rounds through it last night. I've had the Single Six for about 20 years.

No pics, but all I have is a little ol' bolt-action Marlin .22 rifle for plinking cans and I haven't even done THAT in several years. I used to have a Remingtion sem-auto, quasi-collector's piece but it wasn't for a casual shooter. It liked to jam, especially when you put birdshot through it - my dad had a problem with starlings nesting in his house for a few seasons.

I'm a firm believer in a revolver for a handgun. So, you ask what do I do if there are more than six assailants? Well...I've got two hands and two feet. If that don't work, I guess I'll throw the darn gun at 'em. Oh, wait, no need to scratch up the gun, I have a BDK, which should do the trick.
