    Christmas gifts

I had an interesting Christmas this year. My girlfriend Michelle and I celebrated Christmas with her family at their historic house in Mankato, MN. The hard part was the drive from La Crosse to Mankato, in the MIDDLE OF A BLIZZARD on 12/23. I drove 150 miles at 30-40 miles per hour, trying to find the road under all the snow, just praying I didn't end being found in a snowpile a week later. Fortunately, by 9:30 I was at her sister's house and enjoying a hot toddy and cookies.

I had a special gift for Michelle, which I put inside another package, so it was a gift inside a gift. You can check out the Christmas pics below. She was a little surprised...

I was surprised too that I pulled this off in front of her family, but I figure if you're going out on a limb it might as well be a long one!

I'm assuming that is more than just a ring, so Congratulations!

I asked my wife 6 years and 361 days ago. We were going out to a tres chic restaurant to settle a bet, at least as far as she knew. I also brought along an album of baby pictures. We'd had a discussion earlier where she jokingly said she couldn't marry me unless she saw a baby picture. Just before Chiristmas I'd asked my mom for one. The funny part was my mom had already put the album together as a Christmas gift for me. As soon as my wife unwrapped it she started getting all blubbery and said yes, even before she saw the ring.

The chief cause of failure in this life is giving up what you want most for what you want at the moment.

Congratulations! You look like the cat that caught the canary and she looks happy. I wish you much happiness.

                Two thoughts, Jeff...

                1. Marriage isn't a word, it's a sentence.

                2. A man isn't complete until he is married, then he's finished.

I am happily serving my sentence. Best wishes for you top do the same!
                Don, aka Pappy,

Fools because they have to say something.
