    Very cool stuff. I think somebody here linked to that a year or so ago, and I enjoyed it again this time.

    Though not a member of the Mach-1 club, I have been fortunate enough to experience a 0.9M ride in a Citation-10, and rode along in a ridiculously amped-up TF-51 (2-seater Mustang) at about 450mph and 50-feet altitude (my butt took a big bite outta the seat on that one...). I love to go fast, especially in a plane or a boat. My favorite aircraft ride-along was getting to sit right-seat in the first Beech Starcraft off the production line (purchased by a beer distributor here in FL). Fascinating and terrifying , all at the same time... Those were the days...

      I like the spot at about a minute in where he is looking at the map while flying a couple hundred feet about the ground.

        Are you kidding? Of course.

        Since my airplane has a single engine and no way to escape quickly, it's not safe for me to fly close to the ground like that. But I wouldn't mind trying sometime in a suitable airplane.

        Probably the two coolest things I've ever done in an airplane: 1) establish a speed record between San Francisco and Seattle that I still hold, 2) fly jump seat in a British Airways 757 into Heathrow (before 9/11).

          That might have been nice Cracker but how bout flyin a Bell-AirCobra with a driveshaft spinnin between your legs and a 38mm cannon on your nose shootin at Jap Tanks from 300 ft. Thats real Balls.

            A little more history for you pilots out there. Duriing WWII my father was 1 of about 20 pilots who tranferred P-47s and P-38s off the decks of carriers in the pacific cause they had the experience. He was also twin engine certified. What pissed him off the most was when he was ordered to shoot at non-combatant junks in the straits of japan by some Lt Col from Jersey with little if any combat experience. My father being a captain refused to fire and pulled his squadron off and returned to base to find a court marshall waiting for him for disobeying a direct command. Fortunatly his squadron commander recognized what he was doing and after 30+ sorties sent him home without the court marshall. But later as an Maryland Air National Guardsman he was kicked out for flying P-51,s under the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge, Go figure. Now if you guys with all this experience want to talk about flying I,d suggest you find an old WWII pilot to talk the cheese-wiz with, cause frankly I don,t think ya got a pot ta piss in, Tommyt654

                  Better talk to any fighter pilots quickly (well, relatively) as you're not likely to see another couple generations of them. Pilots are slow, squishy, and too expensive to train to let them be killed just because the aircraft was lost...

                      In the late 50's when I first started flying commercially, I really enjoyed flying. Flying out of Houghton, Michigan in a North Central Airlines DC3 as a soon to be engineering grad going to a job interview somewhere . The stewardesses were some of the most beautiful women in the world. Free booze too.
                      (Of course this engineering nerd was totally dumbfounded and in panic in the presence of a pretty woman).
                      If you missed your flight, or wanted to change your flight time, you just took your ticket to whichever airline could get close to your schedule and got on.

                      Things have changed since then.
