One thing I have been trying this year is slowly spreading it over my lawn to counter the effects of my dog peeing over the year. I am hoping that the high carbon of the sawdust will help counter the high amonia content of dog pee. I'll let you know in the spring how well it worked and if I have any "burned" spots.

Most of mine goes to waste as I forget to seperate it and walnut isn't good for flowers and stuff.

But I do have a 5 gallon bucket full of it that I put on all the cast iron tables when I'm not using them to absorb moisture and prevent rust. Its worked nicely so far (though I haven't compared to without it, the bandsaw is nice and spotless)

You can use it with liquid paint striper (not gel). pour paint striper on the surface, dump a few handfulls of sawdust on top of the surface, & with rubber gloves on, simply rub the sawdust into the surface & it will srub the finish off while soaking it up. Simply brush the sawdust off when finished.

If you try it with the gel type, it will lock up on the surface & will require a belt sander. I found out the hard way.

Wear it proudly! Like a beer belly, it takes a lot of work to produce it, you should show it off!

You might also check with a local horse stable. I think they'll want solid wood shavings, no sheet goods because the chemicals are a problem.

Unfortunately, no flowers up here though we do use mulch. I start fires in our wood stove with newspaper and solid wood logs - found a way to do it without using kindling. I doubt LOML would let me use wood shavings and wax fire starters.

Why? What's the objection to shavings & wax? I would be interested to know how you bypass the kindling.
