    It must be Christmas

After a long main floor renovation we were pretty excited about moving out of the basement. We hired a moving company to do the heavy lifting and all was good. Nothing got broken and the place stayed pretty clean. My wife paid them and even gave them a nice cash tip. A few hours later we discovered they also probably stole my wallet which I'd tucked away in a hall table drawer just before they arrived. I say probably because obviously I have no proof it was them. However my wife mentioned later that she came down one time and saw one of the guys with his hand on the table. He then asked if the table was to be moved upstairs. She said no - just the stuff out of the one room. We haven't involved the police yet and probably won't because there is nothing that they could do anyway. We'll mention it to the moving company though. Maybe they've had other complaints.

I kept hoping I'd just mis-remembered where I'd put it, but we tore the house apart looking and never found it. So I've spent the past few days canceling cards and arranging for new ones. I also signed up for a credit alert system that hopefully will let me know if anyone is using my identity to get credit. This sucks and comes on the 3-year anniversary to the week when we had to cancel our credit card after discovering someone had been using our number on phone in orders. Christmas seems to bring out the worst in some people.

That just sucks. But that's life and the people that make it up. Hopefully it will turn up and the goodwill you now regret will be again meaningful.

As a side story, I get busy and try to remember where I might have left certain things only to do a lengthy search. One comes to mind is with my shed key. Couldn't find it anywhere. I made it a habit to leave keys in only two places and it wasn't to be found. After tearing apart several areas come to find out it was in the back pocket of the shorts I was wearing while searching.
