Had a kid do that in grade school. The school nurse paraded him around to every classroom to show the rest of us what could happen.
Didn't stop anyone. It seems to be a rite of passage up here. Of course the smart ones just touch the tip of their tongue to the pole, not try to French it.
When I was a kid it was a show of toughness to it, don't remember anyone ever having to call a nurse or some adult. Rip your tongue off the pole, lose some skin and move on. Maybe it was just my neighborhood in Anchorage, dunno.
I did that when I was in second or third grade...left a bit of tongue skin on the monkey bars. It wasn't too bad until lunch time...I remember the orange juice I drank really stung!
