    Currency conversion question (historical)

Here's a tough one for you all: (Of course, the last time I said that it turned out to be not so tough after all!)

Does anyone know what the currency conversion rate (roughly) between Dutch guilder and Deutsch mark (Reichsmark) was between 1930 and 1935? (This is before German occupation.) Or does anyone have any ideas about where I might find the answer?

    Thanks!

Here's the exchange rate between the guilder/ mark and guilder/ pound.

    (source: http://www.cbs.nl/NR/rdonlyres/12308.../index1229.pdf)

The sharp dip in the graph makes it difficult to figure out the exact rate (in 1923, the Germany government was printing trillion mark bills due to hyperinflation), but 0.62 looks about right (1 Mark buys you 0.62 Guilders). Which is interesting, because I remember a mark being worth fl. 1.10 when I lived in Holland. It nearly doubled in 40 years.

The following chart may also help -> http://www.history.ucsb.edu/faculty/...s/currency.htm

Try this - I found historical exchange rates against USD on www.measuringworth.org
I think this is a valid way to get to the Reischmark vs Guilder conversion

      Per $1 USD RM per
      Reischmark Guilder 1 Guilder
      1930 4.1920 2.4860 1.6862
      1931 4.2320 2.4857 1.7025
      1932 4.2110 2.4817 1.6968
      1933 3.2770 1.9334 1.6949
      1934 2.5400 1.4841 1.7115
      1935 2.4840 1.4768 1.6820

Maybe a conversion of Zambian kwacha to Hungarian forint in 1911 might be more difficult.

I had to do a conversion between English Pounds Sterling and American Dollars in 1801 once. Found the answer in an 1802 almanac. Coolest thing was, the library let me check it out!
