Of all things, even with my name and address in big black letters on two sides...our recyclables bin. Yep, that blue plastic bin got snatched right off our front driveway.
.
When the wind blows on recycle day they migrate down the street and I try to catch them before they make it to the intersection. Although it's rather funny to watch the cars try to avoid a rouge bin.
I'll then put it over the fire hydrant or wedged under the mailboxes. One would think that if your bin was missing and one was on display that it might be yours. It seems that concept eluded people.
So, I collect them. Real handy for storing end cuts or going down to the river to collect rocks for the ever expanding rock garden. They make a great tote for when I have to take tools and stuff for fixing the rental. I have tried to give them back, if you put a bin in a bin the recycle man won't take it. If you call them up they won't come get it and I'll be dammed if I am going to drive over there to return it for them.
Now I'm not talking about those big ones with wheels and a cover. When the wind catches one of those they take off like a go-cart and end up in my neighbors yard, I let him handle those. I'm talking about the ones that look like a square laundry basket.
So if it was a windy day C-Man, your bin may just be visiting down the street. Next time put your phone number on it so they can call you up to come get it.
Bill,
Waiting for the rain so I have an excuse to not finish raking up the pine needles.
There is really just one bin missing in the entire country. Whomever is missing it today just steals somebody else's tomorrow. Etc., etc., etc... It's just your turn today...
I wish someone would steal some of ours. Prepping the garage for winter I counted 8 of those bins (same kind of deal as above, natural windbreak that catches them). Only 2 were even from the company I use. The other 6 were from Waste Management who doesn't seem to want theirs back.
If you were closer you'd be welcome to have them CMan.
