Changed Out The Belt on the Mower Today

It didn't need it but my FIL was riding around grinding up leaves. I was using the blower to clear the flowerbeds. I look up and there is smoking pouring from underneath the mower. I run over making throat slash gestures until he finally kills the engine. Too late - belt was cooked. Oh well, it has been 3 seasons on the old one anyway.

It's all in your perspective. Think about what you could have been doing instead.

Today I did the winter storage routine on the mower and changed the oil and did the other prep work on the snowblower including giving it priority parking in the garage, so it could be worse.

Of course, for me working outside in the middle of November with 50 degree temps isn't exactly a worst-case scenario either

I changed the belts on my 1977 Wards riding mower with a 36" deck this past summer. Seemed like I had to take most of the mower apart just to get the old ones out and the new ones in. Took me a good 3 hours.

Sparkey, then I will count my blessings because it only took me an hour, but most of that was 2 trips to Lowes because I got the wrong belt the first time.
