I saw those on The Discovery channel a few years ago. It amazed me then as well as now. We have no real comparison in the states although this 2,000,000 generator recently came through my town. It was moved by 4 tractors, 2 pulling and 2 pushing. They had about 10 tractor trailer to haul the equipment and assorted items needed to move the mass.

Hmm.... 16 of those tractor/trailer rigs and assuming the trailers are 40ish feet + another 20 for the trailer then we are looking at 140' per unit. That is somewhere around 2250', or almost half a mile long. Very impressive.David

Looks like my daughter will be moving to Melbourne in 1 1/2 weeks! (Assuming the happy couple gets all their immigration and medical insurance stuff squared away.)
So I guess I will have an excuse to go "down under" sometime next year? Maybe when I'm tired of winter about March or so!Jeff

I bet it drives like a dream. I've seen these before, but much, much shorter. The shorter ones I've seen still go 55mph (or relative kph). I'm guessing the ones pictured here go a little slower. Might not be fun to get stuck behind one either.Comment
