Where would you hide something like that?

I couldn't get it in my back yard, that's for sure (at least not all the way).

Maybe once you get all those boulders cleaned up, though?

BTW, I'm surprised he didn't have lojack on that thing. I know a lot of smaller machinery is lojacked. Maybe he thought it was too big for someone to try taking it?

A year or two ago someone stole a trackhoe overnight from a construction site. I don't know if they ever figured out who did it. I think it was sitting on a trailer & the contractor didn't think anyone would steal it. Whoever did it had to have a pretty serious rig to back up to the trailer & just leave.

That's what I was thinking. Getting it out of the yard and towing down the street, it does look a bit ominous.

Around here over the years, several things have happened. Yesterday, the police were called to an area in Missouri city, and found two acres filled with stolen property, equipment, and vehicles.
About three years ago, the Bass pro shop development was delayed, due to how much rock they were finding, and one night someone rolled/damaged somewhere around $1 million worth of construction equipment.
Years back, in the 70's, we had the old Allis Chalmers. One night someone drove a combine off the lot, a couple blocks over, and up onto a trailer and left with it.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Some years ago, I was involved in a case where the defendant was charged, in a Federal case, with interstate transportation of stolen property.

Over 20 large pieces of construction equipment, were stolen from sites. Most of them where Caterpillar 980 wheel loaders. The wheels on these things are as tall as I am. [Over 6'] They were taken at night, using a huge low-boy truck. They used barricades and flares, and no-body noticed.

They were repainted and renumbered in a warehouse in LA. Then they were shipped to the frequent large equipment auctions. They went for $100,000.00+ used.

Back in the 70's when I lived in the UK it was a weekly event where on the BBC news they would list construction/large farm equipment that had been stolen. Sort of like a "Crime Busters" show!
