    It makes you wonder

when you look around at life. My wife's business has been very slow and getting worse this past year. Our head cook in the restaurant has cancer [stage four] and has been a constant concern. My wife's brother has a battle going with prostate cancer and my brother is fighting kidney cancer trying to survive shrinking the third tumor of the past eightteen months. At least two of our good customers have been told to prepare for the end. I know of at least six more customers that have been battleing cancer during this same time period and at least four that have passed away during this time. The last ten days seemed to excelerate with the death of a young customer who did not wake in time to go to work, and another newer customer that was killed in an apparent illegal house entry. We are getting tired and some of these problems tend to weigh on us also. I have taken to reading the obits every day to see if my name is there. Now it has been brought to my attention that the younger crowd has a new pickup line. They start with "So, do you have a job" . Then get to the part that we all look forward to. Havd a good day.

You gotta wonder if the apparent epidemic in cancer and other maladies isn't directly or indirectly linked to the proliferation of unnatural chemicals in almost everything we do. With artificial this and synthetic that, are we truly poisoning ourselves? And the economy doesn't make for good health, either, as it is a no-brainer that stress kills...

I think it's just the baby boomer generation reaching that age. We are going to see a spike in the numbers for all things that strike the older generation, just because there are so many more of us.

Personally, I think that the preservatives in the food will make me last longer. I may be dead but I won't go bad!

The government has banned the use of so many things in the past, but you have to wonder if we're not getting some new stuff taking it's place, that's possibly as bad or worse.

We haven't heard much recently about teflon used in the kitchen.

At a pot luck dinner with friends Saturday night, we learned that one of our group had been diagnosed with colon cancer. The cancer was actually found in her lungs first. She's in her mid-60s.

I'd like to see the statistics, but I doubt cancer is any more prevalent now than it was 30 years ago. We get old, body parts either stop working, break down or go haywire, and that's it.

I'm guessing that as with most things medical, cancer rates are up partly because diagnoses are more accurate. I also agree that more folks will get sick because the boomer generation is reaching that age.
