    I am proud.....

I know to some its not a big thing but I have been trying to get our youngest Thomas Jefferson to potty train for the last almost year maybe not quite that but for a while. Well I bought a seat to help him out on the big potty, and Mark even made a stool for him so he can get up there easier.

It seem like every day I ask him if he is ready to use the potty and he keeps telling me "when I am big". I tell him he is a big boy and should use the potty.

Well tonight I was getting a bath ready for him and he said he had to go potty and headed for the tub, . So I ask him if he had to go and he said yes. I told him he had to go in the potty not the tub. So he tells me to move and USES THE BIG POTTY. Of course being the supportive mother that I am I made a big deal of it and hope that by doing so he will now start using the potty and I won't have to buy diapers anymore. That is a big monthly cost for us its seems.

And what makes this really hard is that Mark left to go to a scout function this weekend and wasn't here to share this moment with. I will have to make sure when he calls me that I tell him right away.

Congratulations! It's always a blessing and a proud moment when the kids move forward.

LOML still talks about the time our youngest decided to on her own to start going potty. And our youngest now has a 1 1/2 year old son and another on the way.

Congratulations! That is a big step for Thomas. How old is he now? Also, I don't suppose it would help to hear that we potty trained our youngest this summer. It took all of a month. She still wears pull-ups at night but has been dry overnight for several weeks now.

I'm closer to the point where "I" wear a diaper than my kids...

Thomas will be 4 in January. And I remember that our daughter was pretty easy to potty train. Her twin brother was a little more difficult. I have even tried the reward thing earlier and he just didn't want to go for that either. We will see how today goes.

Well boys are supposedly harder to potty train than girls. I also think it is personality. My youngest very much wants to do things right and gets very upset when she does something wrong.

Crokett you are right. Boys are harder to potty train. I know that the oldest was. I had our daughter potty trained in less than a week. Richard took a little longer. And he used the potty again today but refused to wear a pair of underwear still wanted to wear a diaper. Go figure.

Good reason to be proud. Our oldest took a while to get there. We bought a little potty for him to use, which he did ocne in a while. Initially, he would sit on it for a long time and not do anything. After a while he decided he didn't want to try, so e put away. When we picked out a preschool, my wife told him he couldn't go if he was still wearing a diaper. He started trying again, but, still wasn't getting it. One day my wife asked him if he wanted to try using the big potty standing up. That did it. Within a week or two he was doing all his business in the big potty. He still has some problems at night, but, thats normal.

Good luck with the rest of it. You have a good reason yo be proud.
