    Just a good woodworking day

Today I had a chance to get out and finally buy a new blade for the BT3000. I decided on the Freud LU83R and got a chance to go to both the local Woodcraft and Rockler to find one. It was my first trip into Woodcraft and I will be heading back there many times in the future.

Has anyone tried or had a chance to look at those Saw Stop saws? They had a few of those on display on Woodcraft with a little video showing how the saw would stop when a hotdog got near or touched the blade. Looks like a good idea, but a pretty expensive one. For now, I think I will just stick with the whole not getting my digits anywhere close to that spinny 10 inch thingy sticking up from the table saw.

    Now, on to building something.

Yep, you can have a good day in the shop and not even get anything built. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed yourself! It's a good feeling.
    Blessings,

I think you'll be happy with your new blade. There's one on my BT3000 right now.

You really have to use your head, and not take things for granted. We have a member who has been woodworking for 50+ years. He recently lost half of his thumb on the right hand. Fortunately, he's left handed. Be sure to check out the link below about kickback.

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

It is too easy to get comfortable with power tools, which I hope will not happen. I had the luxury of beng in charge of safety for a Battalion in Germany and got to read and see all sorts of things that happen with complacency, so I just hope to kee this information with me at all times. That being said, i did take a look at the contractors saw and it seems like a prety nice machine. If or when I upgrade from the BT3000, maybe this will be on my short list.

Thanks for the links and the input.
