    Need help from a Canadian

I would like to check w/ Skil in Canada on whether they have a specific part (they are obsolete in the U.S., and I assume the same in Canada but I don't know for sure).

I checked their web site and got a number's:
If you live in the US, replacement parts can be ordered: ONLINE: www.boschtoolsservice.com or through select online retailers BY PHONE: 1-877-SKIL-999 For information about replacement parts in Canada, CALL: Ontario & Western Provinces: 1-800-387-8304 Quebec & Atlantic Provinces (French speaking): 1-800-463-3676

Problem is, neither of those numbers are available from the U.S. And I haven't spoken French since high school.

Would a Canadian be so kind as to call one/both and ask if they have:
This is a front cover to a Skil HD 3640 (HD3640) band saw.

I purchased a second one of these yesterday and the cover is badly damaged. I had originally thought I'd just use it for parts for my "daily driver", but the rest is in really good shape. If I can find a cover, I can dedicate this saw to doing scolling.

Sorry Phil, I just saw your note and it is 5:30 PM (they close at 5:00). If nobody else offers, I can call tomorrow PM. BTW, if you are calling from GTA, the number is 905-826-6300 (they don't transfer the call from 1-800).

Haven't had any other offers, Turaj. Even though I'm in the U.S., I thought I'd try the Greater Toronto Area number you provided. But it doesn't ring. It is midnight my local time, and I was using my cell phone, but I'd sort of expect it to ring to an auto attendant or something.

So if you wouldn't mind, I'd be very appreciative if you'd try them tomorrow. If it turns into a hassle of being put on hold or anything that amounts to more than a minute of your time, just abort and I'll find another way.

Called them up this afternoon but the CSR could not find the part based on the number (there might be a different number used for the Canadian operation). After I told her what it was, she transferred me to the "Parts & Support" but they were not available (about 4:40 PM). I left a message for them and hopefully they get back to me tomorrow. I'll follow up and let you know.

BTW, I am planning to be in Milwaukee (Franklin) the first week of October so I can bring it with me (assuming they have it and you can wait).

          Sounds great!

It is kinda big. It is the front cover of a 10" bandsaw. If you're flying it may not be too convenient to bring it along.

If you're driving, OTOH, I will certainly make it worth your while to bring it.

Phil, just picked up a message from John at Bosch Canada that said the part is obsolete and not available anywhere in North America (including their service / outlet stores).

Sorry, I was looking forward to go to their store (needed a reason).
