What does it take to be a judge? Obviously very little to nothing seeing how Ellen DeGeneres is replacing Paula Abdul at American Idol. I didn't watch it before. I'll watch it even less now. Story here.

It doesn't really take anything. On American Idol the 'judges' don't really do much. The votes decide who stays and who goes. Paula may have been a lot of things but at least she was a successful singer once. Ellen never was.

I fail to see how this can be anything other than an upgrade. Ellen D. is witty and warm. Paula A. has a problem just being lucid.

That was 90% of the entertainment value of the show... wondering what utterly stupid thing she was gonna say or do next. I think Jessica Simpson woulda made an excellent replacement.

As for Ellen D., we will probably see a change in Simon, as I'm sure he knows that she can kick his butt 12 different ways.

Nah. She's not near dumb enough (although she does have her moments). Plus, she goes for musicians, not singers (that, and David freakin' Spade... )... On second thought, maybe she is dumb enough.
