    My Arms Itch

but two thirds of the shop ceiling has been reinsulated. Hopefully I will finish the rest tomorrow night. Also after tonight I am definitely getting a smaller dust mask. Ugh. When I am wearing the big one I can't wear my face shield. That's a problem when you are looking up to put dusty insulation back up. Another problem is the big filters block your vision when looking down to do things like find your stapler or look for the step on the ladder.

Rinse your arms with vinegar, then take a cold shower. A cold shower closes the pores and sheds the fiberglas. I hate insulating!

Cabman, I thought about something like that. I also tried wearing a long sleeve shirt the first night. that was worse than no shirt. I sweated a lot and the insulation still managed to work its way in so now my arms were itchy and sweaty. I will just deal with it. It is only tonight and maybe tomorrow night.

Line your arms with something that will soak up all the sweat first.

So, did you run your dust collector pipe across the attic prior to putting the insulation up?

Face shield is a good idea, much better than goggles, I'll have to try it next time I have to stuff insulation up into something.

In the 1960's I was working in Cessna aircraft experimental and the shop had a 5 gallon crock of vinegar for the for the fiberglass workers to wash in before lunch and end of shift.

What does the vinegar do? I will try that tonight.

I don't know how it works, unless it closes the pores or pulls the fiberglass out of the pores, but it helps a lot.
