    Summer's over in Wisconsin

Best put the bike and kayak away, and get the skis waxed...

With those temps, you'll have to settle for water skis.

What is wrong with those temps? That is about par for the course in Wisconsin this time of year, right?

          Yeah--we won't see 80-plus degrees for another 10 months...

Today it was 88 degrees here on long Island. A relief from 98 the other day. Looking forwrd to your weather!

Aw c'mon Jeff. Up at Lake Tahoe we had lows in the low 30s this week. Truckee set a record low for date of 28 on Monday.

Now tell me again about the end of summer?

What's wrong with that? That's our average (if not slightly warm) summer temp.

This has been the coolest summer I can remember. I doubt that we have had more than 5 days of even reaching 90° this entire year. Often we have 50 to 70 days of 90° or more.

The main reason is clouds clouds clouds with a fair amount of rain. Usually the rainy season if 2 to 3 weeks but this year it has been continuous. Because it has been so cloudy the ground has not heated up.

I went out in a scorching sun last week but it was like a very clear mid September sun - heat from the sun but the radiation temp from buildings and ground was not there. Direct sun was quick to heat the arms and face.

Blame it on Bret going to the Vikes.

Ditto. And fairly low humidity here, too. This has been one of the best summers I can remember.

Another vote for one of the best summer's ever.

Cool (70's -80's) and mostly sunny with low humidity. There was one hot week in May I think where it was in the upper 90's, and a cold (60's-low 70's) week to 10 days in July, but other than that it's been almost perfect.

The only downside was a bit of a drought. But with 6" of rain a couple weekends ago, and a couple days of soaking rain so far this week I think even that's been moderated.

I'm not complaining too much. Any day I don't have to run the AC or heat is a good day as far as I'm concerned. I LOVED this summer.

I just get a little wistful, thinking of the end of summer, approach of autumn (insert appropriate song here), then winter...
