Recently the motor on my shop vac quit suddenly. I dug out the receipt and checked the date - 23 June 2004 - just barely over the 5 year warranty.
Fortunately i paid for it with a credit card that extends warranties by a year, so i figured it was still covered. I heard good things about Shop Vac customer service before, so i figured before i pursued the credit card warranty i would check with them. I filled out a support contact form (including the actual purchase date), hoping maybe they would suggest something to check or at least give a repair price that i might need for the credit card submission. I figured it would take a couple of days to hear back.
Twenty minutes later i received an email from shop vac. They said it was still covered and that i would receive a motor, switch, and cord unit in 7-10 days, and just to toss the old unit when i received it. It is five days later (three business days), my shop vac is back up and running.
No faxing a copy of the receipt, no mailing back broken parts to be examined, no hoops to jump through. They didn't have to do anything, but instead they fixed it with minimal effort on my part. That is top notch service!
